PHNCI Seeks Feedback on Revisiting the 10 Essential Public Health Services

Sep 26, 2019 | Kim Rodgers

The Public Health National Center for Innovations (PHNCI) is partnering with the de Beaumont Foundation to review and possibly revise the 10 Essential Public Health Services. The Futures Initiative: Revisiting the 10 Essential Public Health Services, is aimed at bringing the Essential Services national framework in line with current and future public health practice. Because this important initiative will have a significant impact on the field, PHNCI wants to ensure that the framework is created by the field and for the field. To understand how the field views and uses the 10 EPHS, PHNCI and the de Beaumont Foundation are engaging in a series of data collection efforts to solicit input from the field, including live crowdsourcing and other in-person events, an online questionnaire, key informant interviews, and a virtual townhall series.

PHNCI and the de Beaumont Foundation will be hosting one town hall event per month between October and November 2019. These events are open to anyone wishing to listen and provide feedback and the agenda will consist of polling and facilitated dialogue around the 10 Essential Public Health Services. Below is the schedule for the townhalls.

  • October 28, 2019 from 3:00-4:00pm ET – REGISTER
  • November 13, 2019 from 2:30-3:30pm ET – REGISTER

If you will be at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, consider attending the following session to learn more about this initiative. Tuesday, November 5th from 8:30-10:00am ET, PHNCI and the de Beaumont Foundation will be presenting an interactive session (4004.1 Are the Ten Essential Public Health Services Still Essential?) designed to exchange ideas about the framework that next describes public health in the future.
