Summer Toolkit to Prevent Foodborne Illness

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service released a toolkit to help public health officials get started with their summer food safety campaigns.

In the toolkit you will find materials you can use to promote safe food handling during this season:

  • Press Release Template– A general press release that can be personalized by your organization to email to local news outlets, radio, newspapers and blogs
  • Talking Points
  • Pitch Email
  • Consumer Fact Sheets
  • Blogs on “Keeping Hands Clean and Summer Camp Trip Foods Safe” and “Waves, Sun, Grill and Food Safety”
  • Suggested tweets and Facebook posts are included to help spread the word about food safety during summer
  • YouTube videos (USDA FSIS YouTube Channel)
  • Pinterest (USDA Food Safety USDAFSIS)
  • Infographics
