Recent data indicate that there has been an increase in the rate of new hepatitis B infections in the U.S., which many largely attribute to increasing injection drug use. To address this, Hep B United and NACCHO are excited to present this webinar as part of a three-part series on the current state of HBV in the U.S. and local health department efforts and model programs to increase HBV testing, vaccination, and linkage to care.
The final installment in this webinar series will explore the rising rates of acute hepatitis B infection across the U.S. This session will describe populations at risk for hepatitis B infection and discuss rising rates of hepatitis B within the context of the ongoing opioid crisis. Local health departments will discuss efforts to increase hepatitis B testing, vaccination, and linkage to care. At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
Discuss the impact of the opioid epidemic on increasing hepatitis infection rates
Characterize local initiatives and challenges in addressing the co-occurring problem of opioid addiction and hepatitis infection
Identify best practices, tools, and other resources helpful to addressing hepatitis in local communities
