Webinar: Ending the Epidemic – Update on Implementing the New York State Blueprint
April 13 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
In 2014, Governor Andrew Cuomo backed a community advocated plan to aggressively scale up testing, linkage to treatment, and PrEP access in order to dramatically reduce new infections below epidemic levels by the year 2020. Since then, a newly mobilized community of advocates–in partnership with New York State and New York City health department leadership–has been deeply engaged in implementing the recommendations of the state Ending the Epidemic Blueprint, a 2015 guiding document drafted with input from multiple key stakeholders. The recent release of the 2016 HIV/AIDS surveillance data shows that Ending the Epidemic (EtE) efforts in New York are having an impact. However, despite this success, challenges still remain–particularly for communities outside the New York City region.
Join Treatment Action Group (TAG) and Housing Works for a discussion with New York EtE leadership to review recent successes, review policy advocacy for the coming year, and explore plans to address shortcomings. The webinar will be moderated by Jeremiah Johnson, TAG’s Community Engagement Coordinator, and speakers will include:
- Kimberleigh Joy Smith, Senior Director of Community Health Planning and Policy, Callen-Lorde Community Health Center
- Perry Junjulas, Executive Director, the Albany Damien Center
- Demetre Daskalakis, M.D., Deputy Commissioner, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
This is a must-attend webinar for everyone involved in efforts to End the Epidemic, no matter where you live and work. Register today!
