Webinar: Caring for Children with Congenital Zika Virus- Building Community Support

In response to the continued growing threat of the Zika Virus, the American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are hosting a webinar focused on children’s hospitals and preparedness on Monday, November 14th, 2016, 3:00 PM/ET. This presentation will provide guidance on how children’s hospital can prepare for incoming infant patients born with congenital Zika virus syndrome. Webinar speakers will include leaders from the Children’s National Medical Center Congenital Zika Virus Program in Washington, DC, and infectious disease and public health experts. Presenters will speak to the most common topics and questions related to what children’s hospital staff can do to prepare for incoming cases.

Webinar Objectives will include:

  • Describe Zika virus and update participants about what is known.
  • Share strategies for preparedness used at one children’s hospital in the US.
  • Discuss key questions children’s hospitals may have while thinking about preparing for seeing infants with congenital Zika virus syndrome.
  • Share experiences from other hospitals who have been through the preparedness process.
