Join the CDC’s Adolescent Immunization Communications Team on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00AM ET for the third webinar in the “Taming Conversations Around HPV Vaccine and Other Immunizations in Social Media” webinar mini-series entitled, “But I saw it on the internet! Addressing safety concerns that have gone viral.”
Two of CDC’s very own will discuss HPV vaccine safety and how to communicate with parents who have concerns, especially when social media is cited. Cindy Weinbaum, MD, MPH serves as the Associate Director for Immunization Programs in CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion and has led the ACIP as Acting Executive Secretary. Dr. Weinbaum will briefly discuss safety concerns, practices for ensuring vaccine safety and questions regarding HPV vaccine. Melinda Wharton, MD, MPH serves as the Director of the Immunizations Services Division in the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Disease. In her 20+ years of experience, Dr. Wharton has worked extensively on issues related to vaccine policy, vaccine safety science, and public health response. Her presentation will include insight around talking with parents to address their safety concerns, especially when those concerns are based on what they have seen online.
