Webinar: Building School Immunity – Winning Strategies for Improving School Immunization Rates from Washington, California, and Colorado
June 4, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Public Health – Seattle & King County and WithinReach present a webinar on: Building School Immunity: winning strategies for improving school immunization rates from Washington, California, and Colorado.
Routine vaccinations protect children from 14 different life-threatening diseases before they even enter kindergarten. That means kids can focus on learning, growing, and thriving in the classroom — not on being sick. A fully immunized student body also means fewer school days lost to exclusions and illness. But this year’s measles outbreaks offer a sobering reminder: when even a subset of school-aged children are unimmunized, vaccine-preventable diseases can quickly gain a foothold.
Schools with high immunization rates can weather outbreaks, protecting the most vulnerable students who can’t be vaccinated. Join us for a webinar of winning strategies to improve school immunization rates. Hear from leaders across the western United States, including:
- Spokane Regional Health District: reducing barriers to immunization
- Oakland Unified School District and Alameda County Public Health Department: collaborating with school principals to improve immunization compliance
- Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition: sharing district-level immunization data through fact sheets and interactive online dashboards
