Tick Identification and Techniques Workshop

May 14 - May 25

The CDC Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector Borne Diseases, The Gateway Program, is offering the first Center of Excellence Tick Identification and Techniques Workshop. The workshop will be held on May 14 – 25 in Statesboro, Georgia on the campus of Georgia Southern University, home of the U.S. National Tick Collection.

Costs: Workshop fees and lodging is provided. Individuals must pay for their own travel and meals.

Topics will include:

  • Hard tick identification
  • Tick physiology
  • Tick demography, distribution and practical applications in modeling
  • Tick-borne pathogens
  • Control and management
  • Surveillance techniques and tools
  • Molecular techniques
  • Tick population genetics
