The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has been working to draw attention to the alarming increases in opioid use disorders, injection drug use, overdose deaths, and infectious diseases in communities across the United States. Two upcoming webinars will provide an opportunity to hear important perspectives of leaders and partners from the field. This installment will focus on Part 1: State Government Perspectives, and will feature insights from NACCHO.
These webinars are a continuation of the discussion which began at the HHS event, Hidden Casualties: The Consequences of the Opioid Epidemic on the Spread of Infectious Disease and will explore the same themes and our evolving response to the opioid epidemic from the perspectives of national, state, county, and local organizations. Partners will discuss state and local impacts of the opioid epidemic on infectious diseases, challenges, steps taken to address these co-occurring problems, and opportunities that may inform other states and local partners working to address this multi-faceted challenge.
