EPA Tools and Resources Webinar: CompTox Chemistry Dashboard
August 22 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Information and data on chemicals is used by scientists to evaluate potential health and ecological risks due to environmental exposures. EPA’s CompTox Chemistry Dashboard helps evaluate the safety of chemicals by providing public access to a variety of information on over 760,000 chemicals currently in use. Within the Dashboard, users can access chemical structures, chemistry information, toxicity data, hazard data, exposure information, and additional links to relevant websites and applications. These data are compiled from sources including EPA’s computational toxicology research databases, and public domain databases such as the National Center for Biotechnology Information’s PubChem database.
This webinar will highlight major updates to the tool in August 2018 including data on Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It will have consumer product category information and exposure predictions. In addition, it will link to more outside sources of chemical information. The Dashboard is used by EPA and others to support chemical safety decisions. States such as California and Minnesota have been using the dashboard to locate information on chemicals. For example, EPA researchers worked with CA to identify product types that should be evaluated under the state’s Safer Product legislation. Learn more here.
