DIS Recognition Day 2019

October 4

Did you know that every October, health departments, national partners, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognize the amazing work of disease intervention specialists (DIS) across the U.S.? This year, DIS Recognition Day is Friday, October 4. This is the day to thank DIS for the miles they drive, the long nights they work, and the countless hurdles that they overcome.

NACCHO and the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) encourage you to recognize the DIS in your jurisdiction on this day by completing easy-to-do actions, ranging from a press release to social media announcements to a cake. Additionally, NACCHO and NCSD invite photo submissions in which you and your colleagues give your reasons why you love DIS. Download this template (it is a Word document and will appear in your web browser’s “Downloads” folder) and send us your photos; we will highlight them on our social media on October 4th. Additionally, you can download the below social media images to promote the importance of DIS:

We thank DIS for all they do and hope you can join us in acknowledging their efforts on this day. Read CDC’s “Dear Colleague” letter to learn more.
