Adapting to Climate Change in Local Health Departments
July 31 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
What is the role of local government in protecting communities from the health impacts of climate change? To explore this question, NACCHO issued a request for applications from two local health departments or other local agencies working at the intersection of climate and health. In January 2019, NACCHO awarded the Boston Public Health Commission and the Marquette County Health Department (MI) each with $15,000 grants to use in climate and health projects through July 31, 2019.
This webinar will start with an overview of the two grant projects, which focused on extreme temperatures for Boston and flooding for Marquette County, followed by an open Q&A session with Patrick Jacuzzo, Environmental Health Director for the Marquette County Health Department in Michigan and Michael Colanti, Associate Director for the Boston Public Health Commission Office of Public Health Preparedness.
