Through the power of partnerships, the Catawba County Library System has found inspiration, resources and an enhanced role as a facilitator for the community.
Building upon the results of Years 1 and 2 of the CDC's Improving Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) – Getting Further Faster (GFF) initiative, this funding opportunity will build evidence for how public health, healthcare and human services systems can implement, evaluate, and sustain programs to promote cross-sector linkages that address the social determinants of health (SDOH).
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an update to the Blood Lead Reference Value (BLRV) from 5.0 micrograms per deciliter (μg/dL) to 3.5 (μg/dL) in children.
Homes built before 1980 are at a higher risk of having been built with asbestos containing materials (ACMs) than those built after 1980. This is dangerous because exposure to asbestos greatly increases the chances of developing a health condition, such as mesothelioma cancer or asbestosis later in life.
Pregnant people have been largely invisible in efforts to better manage harm to human health from the increasing number of hotter-than-usual days and nights, and worsening heat waves across U.S. cities and counties. This is a problem.
The National Adult and Influenza Immunization Summit (NAIIS) Immunization Excellence Awards recognize the extraordinary contributions of individuals and organizations towards improved vaccination rates within their communities during the past year.
The environment contributes to human health and well-being through benefits including clean water, clean air, and protection from natural hazards, also known as ecosystem goods and services. This year, as we celebrate the international 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency also marks 50 years of protecting human health and the environment.
