The National Environmental Assessment Reporting System (NEARS) and Contributing Factors to Foodborne Illness Outbreaks

Mar 23, 2018 | Alex Fraser

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) NEARS program captures environmental assessment data including information on key factors that contribute to foodborne illness outbreaks. The data reporting system can benefit food safety programs within local health departments, as well as help to prevent foodborne illness outbreaks. The CDC explains the NEARS program and its benefits, and also provides free food safety resources related to contributing factors and NEARS.

Learn more about NEARS and contributing factors and access the free resources.
