The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is now recommending that anyone over the age of 12 months should be vaccinated for hepatitis A after the fact if they have been exposed to the virus. The new recommendations are not considered final until they are published in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
Outbreaks of hepatitis A have been traced back to food. The CDC reports that more than 90 hepatitis outbreaks have been reported from 1998 – 2016 in the Untied States. Learn more here.
