The Interagency Food Safety Analytics Collaboration (IFSAC) has released a paper that updates the previous food categories linked to food disease outbreaks used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The food categorization scheme provides more specific descriptions of the foods that cause outbreaks in the United States and may help improve source attribution analyses. The hope is that this change will lead to improved foodborne illness source attribution estimates and enhanced food safety and regulatory efforts. Learn more here.
