Norovirus is the most common cause of widespread and sporadic gastroenteritis. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has developed a quantitative risk assessment model to quantify and study the risk association with the transmission of norovirus to consumers through contamination by infected food handlers in retail foods.
