In this week’s Podcast from Washington update, NACCHO government affairs team members Ian Goldstein and Eli Briggs discuss changes made by Executive Order to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Also, NACCHO Senior Advisor for Public Health Programs Dr. Oscar Alleyne is on the program to give an update on hurricane and wildfire relief efforts by local health departments.

Later in the program Ian Goldstein sat down with Boston Public Health Commission Executive Director Monica Valdes Lupi. The two discuss public health strategic priorities in Boston including health equity, the opioid epidemic, and strengthening health care partnerships. Also this week, the Big Cities Health Coalition’s Front Lines Blog featured Dr. Rex Archer, Director of Health, Kansas City-Missoui Health Department who spotlighted public health solutions local leaders can take to address gun violence in light of recent mass shootings.
