New NACCHO Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) Network Webinar Recordings

Jul 28, 2017 | Anastasia Sonneman

Recordings and PowerPoint slides from the two most recent and highest attended Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) Network webinars are now available via NACCHO’s MAHC Network webpage. In coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Healthy and Safe Swimming Week 2017, May’s webinar focused on how to prevent the increasing prevalence of Crypto, one of the most common causes of diarrheal disease outbreaks resulting from recreational water use. Titled, “Recommendations for reducing Cryptosporidium infection risk at swimming pools,” webinar presentations included insight from numerous subject matter experts who emphasized the need to reevaluate recreational water treatment techniques and update aquatic facility guidelines in order to reduce the health risks associated with Crypto. July’s webinar featured a presentation from Pieter Sheehan of Fairfax County Health Department (VA), who shared findings from a recent risk factor study on recreational facilities within his jurisdiction.
