Treatment Action Group (TAG) recently launched its annual research and development landscape analysis: The Pipeline Report: Drugs, Diagnostics, Vaccines, Preventive Technologies, Research Toward a Cure, and Immune-Based and Gene Therapies in Development.

This year’s Pipeline Report continues to demonstrate the significant yields of drugs and biologics research and the advancement of breakthrough technologies that detect, prevent, treat or cure HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). The report also acknowledges the critical challenges ahead, notably unstable political environments that threaten scientific progress and the translation of research into health and survival for people around the world.

The report addresses:

• Specific failures in implementing new tools and therapies across HIV, TB and HCV;
• Obstacles to accessing HIV prevention and treatment measures (i.e., prohibitive costs);
• Prohibitive costs resulting in global access challenges development of direct acting antivirals (DAAs) with astonishing HCV cure rates is another monumental scientific achievement being overshadowed by

The Pipeline Report is an informational tool for activists who are working to ensure the best science and the scale up of affordable treatment and prevention options that can end the HIV, TB, and HCV epidemics. NACCHO encourages our members to use the report to advance the work being done at the local level.
