The Pew Charitable Trusts has released a report,”Food Safety From Farm to Fork”, which examines how the wider use of “evidence-based” interventions on farms and feedlots can prevent foodborne illnesses. The Pew’s Director of safe food project said in a news release that “an effective food safety system includes measures to prevent contamination at every step along the meat and poultry supply chain. More can and should be done on farms and feedlots.” The report’s main recommendation for government and industry is to invest in research, testing, intervention strategies and information sharing.
