Webinar Series: The Intersection of Public Health and Health Care: Health Care Data and the Law in the 21st Century

The 21st century has brought an abundance of health related technologies and information systems. These innovations have opened a new world of electronic health records, health metrics, and disease surveillance; allowing health professionals to improve quality of care, combat current health issues, and increase communication with patients and within health organizations. However, the new technologies also come with legal, privacy, security, and payment concerns that must be addressed.

This webinar series, co-sponsored by the Center for Disease Control’s Public Health Law Program and the American Health Lawyers Association, offers an overview of current trends in laws regarding electronic health records, health data sharing, and Medicare payment systems; and how they are affecting quality of care, the fight against antibiotic resistance, and patient care in public health emergencies.
