NACCHO recently released a new report examining Health Impact Assessment (HIA) implementation practices, challenges, and gaps across nine local health departments. Findings and recommendations included in this report aim to build on a 2014 evaluation and 2016 report (available at this link), which surveyed 14 local health departments receiving funding and technical assistance through the NACCHO HIA Program. The new report is based on a 2016 assessment, which evaluated six agencies not supported through NACCHO’s program in addition to three new grantees that did not participate in the 2014 survey. The full report titled “Evaluation of Technical Assistance for Local Health Impact Assessments,” includes useful recommendations for both local health departments interested in conducting HIAs and organizations that support HIA at the local level.
