The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has employed the Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work campaign for many years in an effort to support appropriate antibiotic use.
This year, CDC is revamping this campaign to maximize support for the clinicians and patients who prescribe and use these critical drugs. This effort will include a rebrand, revitalized strategies and tactics, and more current messaging and materials. The new campaign will launch publicly during the 2017 traditional national observance week, which will take place November 13-19 and be named U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (formerly “Get Smart about Antibiotics Week”). This name will make it easier for partners to align with the CDC, and for the United States to align with the World Health Organization’s World Antibiotic Awareness Week.
