Cardea Services is now offering an independent study course to help healthcare providers discuss aspects of gender identity, gender discrimination and gender-related health disparities and how they impact clients. Participants will practice skills for assessing and treating gender-diverse clients who may be at risk for HIV or who have HIV.

An important part of HIV prevention and treatment is connecting clients with care and helping them to remain in care. Some clients whose gender does not fit into the easy classification of male or female are denied service or feel so unwelcome that they avoid seeking treatment altogether. This course will help participants learn more about gender and how to help people whose gender does not conform to common expectations.

This course was developed for nurses, clinicians, counselors, community health workers, and other health care staff who work with clients who may be at risk of HIV or who have HIV. The course is FREE and there are continuing education credits available. Register today!
