As the Senate takes up the American Health Care Act (AHCA) – a bill to repeal and replace major pieces of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) – the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) has released new resources aimed at educating Members of Congress on the importance of the Medicaid program and ACA insurance protections for people living with and at risk for HIV and hepatitis. Resources include the following:
- Fact Sheet: Ending the Epidemics: The Role of the Affordable Care Act & Medicaid, describing the impact that the ACA and Medicaid have had on access to HIV and hepatitis care and prevention
- Health Reform Issue Brief: Detrimental Impact of Medicaid Block Grants and Per Capita Caps on Public Health, highlighting the impact that restructuring and cutting federal funding for Medicaid through a block grant or per capita cap will have on people living with and at risk for HIV and hepatitis
- Health Reform Issue Brief: High Risk Pools, highlighting the access and affordability challenges that accompany traditional high risk pools, particularly for AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) clients.
