Funding Opportunity: Positive Action Southern Initiative

Apr 26, 2017 | Kim Rodgers

To support its commitment to the South through the Positive Action Southern Initiative, ViiV Healthcare is requesting grant proposals to expand and enhance community-driven linkage-to-care and adherence services that close gaps in care for those most disproportionately affected across the South. Organizations in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia are eligible to apply for grants up to $50,000 per year for two years to expand linkage and adherence projects.

Positive Action Southern Initiative supports all populations living with HIV/AIDS in the South, and prioritizes support for those most disproportionately impacted including, Black, Hispanic/Latino, gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, youth, and cis- and transgender women. In the South, these populations often experience stigma and discrimination, income inequality, and less access to the standard of care.

To address critical gaps in care and stigma for these those most affected, Positive Action Southern Initiative is accepting grant proposals to expand and enhance linkage to care or adherence to treatment projects in the following four areas:

  • Case Management and Peer Navigation: Expand/enhance efforts to link, and re-link, individuals to high-quality services, and improve access and adherence to care.
  • Community and Systems Collaboration: Build or enhance collaborations with the larger social service and medical systems that impact linkages, availability, and usage of high-quality services available to people living with HIV/AIDS in the South.
  • Behavioral Support Services: Expand/enhance mental health, behavioral health, and/or substance abuse services that support ongoing adherence and wellness.
  • Empowerment: Expand/enhance services that empower individuals with prevention, healthy behaviors, self-advocacy, and adherence skills.

Please see the Request for Proposals, which can also be found in this Online Grantee Portal. Once inside the portal, click on Positive Action Southern Initiative to submit a grant proposal.

Eligible non-profit organizations located in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia interested in applying for a grant should submit their full grant proposals by Friday, June 9.

If you have questions or comments, please reach out to[email protected].
