Website: Zika Care Connect

Apr 24, 2017 | Kim Rodgers

Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and hosted and maintained by the March of Dimes, the Zika Care Connect (ZCC) website helps families affected by Zika find information and specialty healthcare professionals who match their unique needs (e.g., location, language, insurance). ZCC also allows healthcare professionals to access patient education materials and identify other specialists that care for families affected by Zika. All information on healthcare professionals is publicly available and/or submitted voluntarily and updated directly by the participating healthcare professionals. ZCC currently is focused on 10 areas in the United States and its territories with a high number of reported Zika cases. If you live outside of these areas, contact your state/territorial health department or the ZCC HelpLine to learn about resources and information specific to your area.

The ZCC website features information to help pregnant women and families find the appropriate healthcare professional and resources that can address their specific needs, including:

  • Healthcare Professional Network – a searchable database of healthcare specialists who provide care for pregnant women and infants affected by Zika
    • Healthcare specialties include maternal-fetal medicine, mental health, audiology, radiology, pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric neurology, developmental pediatrics, infectious disease, and endocrinology
  • HelpLine – a call line staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET by professionals who can help answer questions and provide referrals to healthcare professionals in the Zika Care Connect network
  • Downloadable Materials for Patients, Families, and Healthcare Professionals – fact sheets, charts, checklists and other documents about Zika
  • Frequently Asked Questions – answers to common questions about Zika and Zika Care Connect

NACCHO encourages our members to explore the resources and information available on the Zika Care Connect website and share this new resource broadly throughout your networks.
