Recruiting LHD Staff: 2017-2018 NACCHO Environmental Health Workgroups

Apr 20, 2017 | Anastasia Sonneman

Recruitment for 2017-2018 NACCHO advisory groups (i.e., committees and workgroups), including four environmental health groups (one committee and three workgroups) is open through May 5, 2017. NACCHO advisory groups are a primary and recognized vehicle for identifying the opportunities and challenges facing local health departments (LHDs) and the field at large. NACCHO members from all areas of public health come together to explore the many facets of the field and help NACCHO make the best decisions in serving its members, and local public health.

NACCHO’s environmental health workgroup and committee members serve an advisory role in developing programs and policy that are representative of the needs of local health departments (LHDs). Interested participants are asked to complete an online application, via the NACCHO Advisory Group webpage by May 5. Additional questions and/or inquires can be directed to [email protected].

The following Environmental Health Advisory Groups are currently recruiting new members. Click to view additional details on eligibility, number of vacancies, key contacts, and other pertinent information for each group.

  • Environmental Health Committee provides leadership and guidance to NACCHO, local health departments, partner organizations regarding environmental health policies and programs.
  • Food Safety Workgroup provides leadership and guidance to NACCHO, local health departments, partner organizations regarding food safety efforts, health, outcomes, and implications at the local level.
  • Global Climate Change Workgroup explores ways in which global climate change has an impact on the health of local communities and how local health officials can be in a position to address these concerns and develop programs and policies to mitigate the health impacts.
  • National Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) Workgroup provides guidance and input to NACCHO’s EPHT program and works with CDC and national partners to develop tools and resources for local health departments that link the National Tracking Network to work that is being undertaken at the local level.
