Apply for Zika Pregnancy and Birth Defects Local Health Department Field Support

Apr 04, 2017 | Kim Rodgers

This month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will begin soliciting a second round of applications from local health departments for supplemental field support in communities with pregnant women at significant risk for Zika virus infection. NACCHO strongly encourages our members to apply for this excellent opportunity.

Currently, CDC’s Zika supplemental funding for pregnancy and birth defects supports field assignees in 16 city, county, and territorial health departments. CDC will select an additional 10 jurisdictions for placement of assignees to provide field support for the U.S. Zika Pregnancy Registry and Zika birth defects surveillance. The application process will be open from April 10 to April 21, with site visits to the selected jurisdictions occurring from May 3 to May 26. Field assignees will be placed on site shortly afterwards

CDC will host two informational webinars on the field support opportunity:

  • Thursday, April 6, 4:00pm EDT (register)
  • Wednesday, April 12, 3:00pm EDT (register)

For more information, view the FAQs and register for the webinars.
