As part of a Shingles Awareness Month campaign in Birmingham, Alabama (AL), the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases released a digital Shingles Awareness Toolkit. The toolkit features a variety of communications materials, including a poster, FAQs, sample social media posts, PSA video, and sample newsletter/website language to help share information about shingles and the vaccine available to help prevent it.

The campaign in Birmingham was launched to address the state’s low shingles vaccination rates (AL is ranked 48th in the nation) among the vulnerable population of 60-64 year old individuals. NACCHO encourages local health departments to use the toolkit to help increase shingles vaccination rates in their own communities.
