The National CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) Standards are a framework to guide healthy equity efforts among health care organizations. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Minority Health worked with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) to develop a toolkit to help organizations implement the National CLAS Standards. The toolkit provides guidance on implementing health equity strategies for all populations, including racial, ethnic and linguistic minorities, people with disabilities, and sexual and gender minorities. Local health departments are encouraged to use this resource to promote inclusion in the communities they serve. Read more on the NCQA blog at this link, and access the full toolkit here.
