Scholarships Available to Attend Adolescent Sexual Health-Related Conferences

Feb 24, 2017 | Kim Rodgers

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is sponsoring six full scholarships for interested local health department staff* to attend either the Adolescent Health Initiative’s Conference on Adolescent Health (April 24-25 in Ypsilanti, MI) or the National Sexual Health Conference (July 6-8 in Denver, CO). Scholarships will cover conference registration, travel, lodging, and per diem expenses.

This opportunity is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) FOA PS13-1603, Expanding Partnerships to Reduce HIV and other STDs among Adolescents through National Non-Governmental Organizations. This initiative aims to increase partnerships among education agencies and health departments to advance the implementation of CDC-developed school-based approaches to sexual health services, sexual health education, and safe and supportive environments.

These conferences will be excellent opportunities to learn about innovative strategies, along with CDC DASH-developed approaches, to improve adolescent sexual health and network with other local health departments and partners in the field. To apply, please complete this brief application by March 17, 2017. We are requesting that everyone sponsored to attend contribute a story to NACCHO’s Stories from the Field website about how your local health department is supporting school-based programs to improve adolescent sexual health. If you have any questions, contact Samantha Ritter.

*Please note that individuals working at health departments that are currently DASH-funded are ineligible to apply. This includes: Boston, MA; Broward County, FL; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH: District of Columbia Public Schools; Duval County, FL; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Miami Dade County, FL; New York, NY; Oakland, CA; Palm Beach County, FL; Philadelphia, PA; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Shelby County, TN.
