On February 22, NACCHO’s Government Affairs team hosted a Federal Action Update Webinar (view recording and slides). The webinar focused on the many changes to health and health care being discussed in Washington, the importance of ensuring policymakers understand the implications of these changes, and NACCHO’s near-term plans to make the voice of local public health heard.
On March 1, the NACCHO Board of Directors, representatives of state associations of county and city health officials (SACCHOs) and Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC) will be on Capitol Hill educating Congressional staff about issues important to local health departments and the communities they serve. You can join the Board, SACCHOs and BCHC members by making your voice heard through communications with Capitol Hill the week of February 27 to March 3. NACCHO factsheets can be found here: http://www.naccho.org/advocacy/funding-priorities. Talking points are also available at NACCHO’s website (go to “Building Your Advocacy Toolbox.”)
Don’t forget to tweet! Follow @NACCHOalerts and #HealthOnTheHill to follow along with the activities next week on Capitol Hill. If you have questions about how you can get involved, contact Eli Briggs, NACCHO Senior Government Affairs Director.
