At the culmination of January’s Radon Action Month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released two new resources to fight the nation’s second leading cause of lung cancer, contributing to over 20,000 deaths annually. These include a radon-focused webpage and a customizable communication toolkit. The website includes key information and resources on what individuals and families need to know about radon, including monitoring their home and preventing exposure. The communication toolkit offers a number of fact sheets, infographics and images which public health professionals can use to increase awareness about radon either through digital or in-person outreach.
Both resources are a great tool for local health departments to better inform the communities they serve. To access the webpage, click this link, and the view and download the toolkit, here.
