The Pew Charitable Trusts’ substance use prevention and treatment initiative, which focuses on policy solutions to prevent and treat substance use disorders, recently released a new video on medication-assisted treatment (MAT). The two-minute video focuses on how MAT, a highly effective therapy for opioid use disorder, can help people manage their disease and help curb this pressing public health problem. The video aims to dispel common misconceptions about the medications used in MAT, help policymakers and health care providers understand that effective treatment exists, and emphasize the fact that more people need access to this lifesaving therapy.
