NACCHO in collaboration with the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) and the Department of Homeland Security recently released a new report titled, Strengthened Food and Agriculture Sector Defense Posture through Improved Private Sector Information Sharing Practices. This report shares recommended next steps informing federal agencies, non-profits, and private companies within the Food and Agriculture Sector (FAS) where to target future resources in support of food defense efforts.
Recommendations for this report were collected from a study of current threat information sharing techniques and barriers experienced across private and public entities within the FAS. While its immediate next steps target federal agencies, industry, and associated non-profit organizations, local health departments are also encouraged to use this report as resource advancing their critical role of ensuring food safety within the communities they serve.
