November is National Family Caregivers Month – which recognizes the more than 90 million Americans who care for and ensure the health and safety of loved ones with a chronic illness, disability, or frailty of old age. This observance is organized by the Caregiver Action Network, an organization that provides education, support, and resources to caregivers. This year’s theme is “Take Care to Give Care” to emphasize the importance of self-care among family caregivers.
Local health departments can promote this observance by supporting a community proclamation or distributing resources on ensuring caregivers are mindful of their own health and safety.
