The Health Impact Project at Pew Charitable Trusts seeks a senior associate to assist with efforts that promote and support the use of health impact assessments (HIAs) as a tool for evidence-based policy making to improve health and health equity. The senior associate will also help evaluate the effectiveness of HIA as a tool for healthy public policy and for improving determinants of health. Many decisions made outside the health sector—in transportation, education, housing, social and economic policy, natural resource development regulation, and others—have implications for Americans’ health that often go unrecognized in the policy making process.
The project funds HIA demonstration projects around the U.S.; collaborates with a range of public agencies and organizations at the local, state, tribal, and federal level to advance health-informed public policy; conducts HIAs; and develops relevant research, guidance, and reports and communications materials. Based in Pew’s Washington, DC office, the senior associate will lead and contribute to research that supports widespread use of HIAs in federal and state policy making, and manage a large-scale evaluation of HIAs.
