The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently began supporting four national nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to create national partnerships that have a vested interest in promoting efforts to reduce HIV, STDs and unintended pregnancy, as well as reduce behaviors that contribute to health risks among our nation’s youth. Through this opportunity, NACCHO, Advocates for Youth, National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), and School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA) will work to:
- Increase collaboration between CDC and national education and public health partners to promote efforts to reduce HIV, STDs and unintended pregnancy as well as reduce behaviors that contribute to health risks among adolescents that reflect CDC-developed approaches to school-based programs;
- Increase community capacity to implement CDC-developed school-based approaches for sexual health education, key sexual health services, and safe and supportive environments for reducing HIV infection and other STDs among adolescents; and
- Increase dissemination of CDC-develop school-based approaches for sexual health education, sexual health services, and safe supportive environments.
