Funding Opportunity: Health Is Power Campaign – Promoting Sexual Health among Heterosexual African American Men

Oct 12, 2016 | Kim Rodgers

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), with support from the CDC Division of STD Prevention, is pleased to announce this new funding opportunity to participate in a demonstration site project to implement and evaluate Health Is Power. Health Is Power is designed to promote positive sexual health behaviors among young heterosexual African American men, ages 18-30, through a multi-phased campaign with messaging around increased condom use, healthy relationships, STD prevention, and open partner communication. Health Is Power includes packaged materials and messaging for online and social‐media distribution, as well as print and on‐the‐ground outreach. Materials are intended to be built upon and customized with agency logos, and should include links to drive the target audience to relevant information, resources, services, or events conducted or provided by the agency or a trusted partner.

Demonstration sites will adapt and expand Health Is Power messages and materials to meet the needs of their local target audience, develop customized implementation plans, and evaluate campaign reach and effectiveness. NACCHO will provide technical and capacity building assistance on effective implementation and evaluation of local Health Is Power efforts.

NACCHO will make approximately three awards of up to $40,000 for this 15-month project. Private and public agencies are eligible for this funding opportunity, including local health departments, non-profits, and faith-based and community-based organizations. Application requirements and full details of the project are available in the Request for Applications (RFA). Letters of Intent (optional) are due by 11:59 PM PDT on October 21, 2016. Completed applications are due by 11:59 PM PDT on November 16, 2016. Questions about the RFA and application process can be directed to Sarah Getachew, Program Analyst, at [email protected] or 202-507-4253.
