The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has posted a new informational resource in the form of questions and answers about the first big Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance dates on September 19, 2016. That’s the date when larger businesses must comply with certain new standards, including the Current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements (CGMPs).
The answers are fielded by Joanne Givens, co-chair of the FSMA Operations Team Steering Committee and director of the FDA Food and Feed Program. Ms. Givens addresses questions that have been raised about what the next few months will look like for human food facilities and animal food facilities required to comply with the CGMP requirements.
