The newest issue of the NACCHO Exchange, our quarterly magazine was sent out to all local health departments (LHDs) across the country last week. The summer 2016 issue focuses on environmental health, highlighting topics including vector control, food safety, aquatic safety, healthy community design, climate change and more. The issue’s feature article describes the recent lead poisoning crisis in Flint, Michigan from the perspective of the LHD leading the response efforts. A short excerpt of the interview was featured in an earlier blog post, available here.
LHDs and other partner agencies are highly encouraged to use this publication as a resource, as it contains pertinent examples, lessons learned, and recommendations from the public health perspective highlighting strategies on increasing community resilience against threats like the Zika Virus, water contamination, and foodborne illness.
