Applications for NACCHO Retail Program Standards Mentorship Program Now Open

Sep 07, 2016 | Amy Chang

NACCHO, in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), invites all retail food regulatory programs to submit applications for participation in its 2016-2017 Mentorship Program for the Retail Program Standards. Program participants will have opportunities to learn, share experiences, and acquire tools and resources related to the FDA Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (Retail Program Standards).

The mentorship program, in its sixth year, connects retail food regulatory program practitioners who are experienced in applying the Retail Program Standards with those who are newly enrolled and looking for assistance, guidance, tools, resources, and recommendations for achieving a specific standard.

NACCHO plans to award approximately $200,000 in total to participants. Anticipated award amounts range from up to $8,000 per selected mentee retail food regulatory program, and between $8,000 and $18,000 per selected mentor retail food regulatory program (exact amounts will vary based on number of mentees). The program duration is from November 2016 to August 31, 2017, and awardees should be notified of their acceptance in early to mid-November 2016.

NACCHO will be accepting applications through 8:00 PM ET on October 7, 2016, and has released a Request for Applications (RFAs) that provides further details about the program and application process. Those interested in pursuing the mentor track should respond to the Request for Applications to Become a Mentor; those who seek guidance should respond to the Request for Applications to Receive Mentorship.

Additionally, NACCHO will host two RFA informational sessions on

  • September 12, 2016, 2:00-2:30 PM ET
  • September 29, 2016, 2:00-2:30 PM ET

Interested participants should use this call-in number: 1-866-740-1260; and access code: 5074221.

Visit NACCHO’s program website to review all documents carefully before submitting an application. If you have any further questions, contact NACCHO’s food safety team via email.
