The National Minority AIDS Council’s (NMAC’s) new conference, the National HIV PrEP Summit (NHPS), is now accepting scholarship applications. Scheduled for December 3-4, 2016, in San Francisco, the conference convenes HIV leaders from community-based organizations (CBOs), health departments (HDs), national organizations and NMAC to discuss and learn about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and other biomedical HIV prevention interventions. The conversation will focus on the implementation and infrastructure needed to turn the promise of science into an effective community-level HIV prevention option.
Scholarships will prioritize PrEP navigators, community-based organizations, and health departments establishing their PrEP programs. Geographic diversity will be important, with a special focus on the South and regions where HIV disproportionately impacts people of color. Two types of scholarships are available:
- Scholarship A: Registration, two nights of hotel & one coach ticket to SF
- Must live at least 50 miles outside of SF city boundaries
- Must book travel with NMAC’s travel agent at least 45 days prior to the event. The conference will purchase coach class tickets via air, train or bus.
- Scholarship B: Registration only
All scholarship recipients must make their own hotel reservations at the Hilton.
APPLY NOW. Applications are due no later than September 1, 2016 at 5:00pm ET. Scholarships are limited to one per agency. Non-NMAC members are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to nonprofits with budgets less than $1 million and health departments located in those regions that CDC prioritized in funding announcement PS17-1704.
