FDA Finalizes Rule to Improve Registration Requirements for Food Facilities

Aug 03, 2016 | Anastasia Sonneman

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized a new rule as a part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to improve the accuracy of the food facility registration database. The Amendments to Registration of Food Facilities final rule updates the FDA’s food facility registration requirements. This update will help better protect public health by requiring additional registration information to improve the accuracy of the food facility registration database for facilities both in the United States and abroad. This final rule will also support the FDA’s efforts to act quickly in response to food-related emergencies and will use its inspectional resources more efficiently.

This is the eight major rule finalized to implement the landmark FDA Food Safety Modernization Act and advances FDA’s efforts to protect foods from farm to table.

A webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3 at 11:00 AM ET to present key pieces of the final rule. The audio recording and slide presentation will be available shortly after the webinar is completed.
