The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently updated its website on congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. The goal of the updated website is to better communicate the current science and understanding of CMV and congenital CMV to healthcare professionals and the public, especially pregnant women or those who are planning to become pregnant. The website is consistent with recent CMV prevention practice guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
As more information and communication materials are developed and become available, these items will be posted to CDC’s CMV website. As an additional resource, please see CDC’s CMV feature, which is updated each June as part of National CMV Awareness Month.
Local health departments are encouraged to visit this updated website and share it with partners or patients who may be interested or benefit from the information. CDC welcomes any feedback you might have.
