Apply Now to Attend an Immunization Champions, Advocates, and Mentors Academy in 2016

Dec 02, 2015 | Kate Drezner

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) is pleased to announce the opportunity to prepare healthcare professionals to become immunization champions in their organizations. The ICAMP Academy—a multidisciplinary leadership component of GSA’s Immunization Champions, Advocates, and Mentors Program (ICAMP)—is set for four offerings in 2016, which include the following:

  • February 15-16 in Los Angeles (Application deadline January 3, 2016)
  • March 28-29 in Atlanta (Application deadline January 31, 2016)
  • May 16-17 in Washington, DC (Application deadline March 13, 2016)
  • June date TBD in Phoenix (Application deadline April 3, 2016)

Through this program, participants are not instructed how to vaccinate, but rather how to improve organizational performance on immunization quality metrics and lead their organization’s immunization efforts.

Healthcare professionals who are committed to improving adult health through vaccinations are invited to apply to this 1½-day multidisciplinary program. Please note: Pharmacy providers are required to attend an additional ½ day program on Wednesday after the ICAMP Academy. The pharmacy-specific track delves into action planning and is conducted by expert pharmacy faculty and other immunizing pharmacists.

ICAMP Academy was developed by GSA’s National Adult Vaccination Program (NAVP) for multidisciplinary providers including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. Coach air travel, hotel room, travel expenses, and program fees for participants are fully covered by GSA. Applications will be reviewed by the NAVP workgroup and participants will be chosen based upon their dedication to improving adult health through immunizations and their interest in quality healthcare delivery performance outcomes.

The ICAMP Academy’s agenda offers participants insights on how to implement the National Vaccine Advisory Committee’s Standards for Adult Immunization Practice through the use of practical tools and sharing of best practices. This innovative program was designed by experts who have achieved success in improving immunization rates in their practices and communities.

Apply now as space is limited; for more information, please go to www.navp.org.
