CDC Releases Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Notice of Funding Opportunity

Jan 29, 2020 | Kim Rodgers

The CDC just released the new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Ending the HIV Epidemic: PS20-2010 Integrated HIV Programs for Health Departments to Support Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States (see full PDF here). The NOFO contains three components, Component A being the core [mandatory] component and Components B and C being supplementary components regarding HIV incidence surveillance and scaling HIV prevention in STD clinical settings, respectively. Applications are due Wednesday, March 25th.

The cooperative agreement is open to jurisdictions identified in Phase I of the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative. In most cases, the state health department will be the eligible applicant (see eligibility information on page 48 of the PDF). For Component B, only the following eight recipients are eligible, based on criteria outlined on page 51 of the NOFO: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Houston, Michigan, New York City, South Carolina, and Texas. For Component C, all jurisdictions eligible for Component A who meet specific clinical standards outlined on page 51 of the NOFO are eligible to apply. Between 5 – 8 awards will be given for Component C.

Informational Webinars
CDC hosted three informational webinars this week to offer pre-application technical assistance on completing the application. The webinar recordings are now available for viewing. To access, simply click “Registration Link,” enter the required information, and click submit. The webinar will then be immediately loaded for viewing.

NACCHO will continue to keep local health departments informed about new information regarding PS20-2010 and Ending the HIV Epidemic. Additionally, jurisdictions interested in applying for Component C: Scaling Up HIV Prevention Services in STD Clinics are encouraged to use NACCHO’s assessment tool for assessing quality STD/HIV clinical services based on CDC recommendations which will be available this spring. Please contact Rebekah Horowitz at [email protected] for more information about the tool and implementing quality STD clinical services.
