Vaccines are a notable public health achievement, which have helped to significantly reduce childhood morbidity, mortality and disease outbreaks. Although science supports their effectiveness, misinformation and hesitancy still exists. In September, APHA hosted a webinar to explore effective strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and misinformation. The recording from the webinar is now available to watch on-demand.
The webinar uncovered some of the sources of false information, such as Twitter bots among other issues online, and discussed methods to counter them. Healthcare professionals highlighted their efforts to engage with individuals, families and the broader community in order to provide them with accurate information about immunizations and address their concerns and hesitancy.
